I believe that science is enhanced by diverse perspectives and strive to amplify underrepresented voices and cultivate an environment where everyone’s unique perspective contributes to a more vibrant collective experience. I recognize that the scientific community has historically perpetuated biases and exclusionary practices and I strive to be a proactive agent of change by upholding anti-racist principles within my research. I seek to disrupt systems that perpetuate inequalities, whether within academia, the research process, or broader society.
Listed below are a few of the organizations and workshops that I have been a part of that support these goals.
Participating in, compiling resources, and presenting on the department's pod for the program Unlearning Racism in the Geosciences (URGE) at a scientific conference;
Drafting and editing a new code of conduct for the department with includes guidelines and policies important for field and lab conduct and resources for reporting misconduct and seeking support;
